James (“Jamie”) is a 2000 graduate of the Law School at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He was admitted to the practice of law in 2001. He subsequently served as an Assistant District Attorney in Monroe County, New York and then Erie County, New York.
James was appointed as a Special Assistant United States Attorney and Assistant United States Attorney in the Western District of New York. In 2009, he began his private practice.
As an attorney, he has earned accolades for his work as both a prosecutor and defense attorney, achieving results in difficult matters in courts across Western New York. He has served as an instructor for the trial skills academy for the Assigned Counsel Program, which provides trial technique guidance to new attorneys in criminal defense.
He is also an instructor for the University at Buffalo Medical School and the Erie Institute of Law.
A leader in the legal community, James is a member of the Erie County Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, American Bar Association, New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Criminal Justice Act Panel for the Western District of New York, and is a proud participant in the Assigned Counsel Program for the Erie County Bar Association, which provides people of limited financial resources with access to skilled defense attorneys.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Bar Association of Erie County Foundation and is Chair of the Erie County Bar Association’s Professional Continuity Committee. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Heritage Centers Foundation, the Saint Francis High School Alumni Association, and the University at Buffalo Law School’s GOLD Alumni Board.
James is a native of Orchard Park and has lived most of his life in Western New York. He is a father who remains active in the community, supporting causes such as autism awareness, a cause close to his heart.
